​How to claim health care bills

Most bills are sent in to us directly by health care providers. So there is no need for you to bother. If you have received a bill, you can simply claim it via Mijn Zorgverzekering, the Ditzo Zorg App or by post. After we have received your claim, we will assess it. Sometimes we will do this together with our own medical advisor. We will process your claim within 10 working days. But most of the time earlier.

Claiming health care bills online

Do you want a claim to be paid out quickly? Then send it in online.

  • Make a scan of your bill
  • Go to ‘Declareren’ (‘Claims’) and choose ‘Online declareren’ (‘Claim online’)
  • Add your scan to your file
  • We will process your claim within 10 working days

Did you incur expenses outside the Netherlands? In that case you can also use the Ditzo Zorg App (or MijnDitzo) and select ‘buitenland’ (‘abroad’) at ‘Declareren’ (‘Claims’) and fill in your details.

You will always receive a payment specification of your submitted bills in your digital inbox in Mijn Zorgverzekering (My Health insurance).

Sending in claims via mobile phone

You can also send in claims using your smartphone, via the Ditzo Zorg App. This app is available for Apple and Android.

  • Download the Ditzo Zorg App and log in once using your DigiD
  • Go to ‘declaratie indienen’ (‘submit claim’) and give your approval
  • Choose ‘galerij’ (‘gallery’) (to choose a photo from your telephone) or ‘camera’ (to take a photo of your bill)
  • Select the bill and send it in
  • We will process your claim within 10 working days

Claims using a claims form

Would you rather send us your bill by post? Then use the claims form on Mijn Zorgverzekering (My Health insurance).

  • Go to “Declareren” (“Claims”) and select “Declaratieformulier” (“Claims form”)
  • Here you will find further instructions
  • Upon receipt we will process your claim within 14 days

Always make a copy of your bill for your own records. We will not return the original bills. Did you incur costs outside the Netherlands or is an accident involved? If so, please indicate this on the claims form.

Until when can you claim your healthcare costs?

Send in your bills as soon as possible. If your bill is older than 3 years after the treatment date, we will no longer reimburse you.

Excess

If a care provider submits a bill to us on your behalf and you still have an outstanding excess, we will charge it to you. If you send in a bill yourself and you still have an outstanding excess, we will deduct this from the payment of the bill to you. It is possible that the amount paid is less than the bill you have sent in.
